Governor Carcieri arrives at the Naval War College in Newport for his Emergency Preparedness Summit. Attendees included the directors of many of the state's departments, the RI National Guard, first responders and support personnel. The summit was organized in answer to the Titan Report, an outside consultant's analysis of the state's response to The Station nightclub fire in February 2003.

submitted the winning bid for the contract to administer state
employee health care. The state expects to save $25.3 million

Magyar's project, titled "The Impact of Dissolved Copper and Lead on Biological Activity in Narragansett Bay", earned him top ratings in the 2004 Engineering and Science Fair and the award is an unpaid internship in an area of state government dealing with his topic.
